A hood that actually vents outside, is mounted at the right height, and runs quietly enough that you'll use it.
The most common thing we find behind an existing range hood in the Tri-Cities is a duct that goes nowhere: into the upper cabinet, into the attic, or capped and running recirculating with a filter nobody has changed. A hood that doesn't exhaust outdoors does nothing for grease, moisture or combustion byproducts. Proper ducting is most of the job.
Under-cabinet hoods
Mounted to the upper cabinet, ducted up through the cabinet and out the roof or wall — or, where that's impossible, set up to recirculate with the right filters and clear expectations about what that does and doesn't do.
Wall-mount chimney hoods
Mounted to the wall at the correct height above the cooktop (manufacturer spec, typically 24–30"), with the chimney cover concealing rigid duct to an exterior wall or roof cap. Plaster walls in older Waterloo and Cambridge homes need proper anchoring — a chimney hood on drywall anchors is a hood on the floor.
Island hoods
Ceiling-mounted, ducted through the ceiling joists. These need a solid mounting frame in the ceiling and a duct route planned before the drywall goes up if you're mid-reno — talk to us early.
